Purvis tasting group wines

.. Another fun lineup with interesting wine afficionados tasting through about 18 wines
Yangarra Grenache 2008.. waxy upfront nose, rich flavors but seemed to be missing something for me on the finish. Yangarra is aboriginal for From The Earth

Urlar New Zealand Pinot Noir 2010. lots of tannin.. lean fruit and smoky nose.. almost flinty

Craggy Range Tie Mona Road Pinot Noir 2008.. pretty dried fruit nose, nice depth. the finish was a little mineral too..

Hamilton Russell 2006 South Africa.. rusty color and corked

Blind tasting ( I guessed it btw ;-) ) light pinot noir coloring, smokey nose, light bodied with red berry fruit.. a pleasant wine if somewhat simple.. Simonsig Pinotage

Els Elbrecht Proprietory Red South Africa Stellenbosch.. a blend of bordeaux varietals and syrah.. full bodied and probably the most popular of the tasting

Cirrus Syrah from Ernie Els.2006,  showing rusty color and not much there over the hill.. i brought it ;-(

Delectus Cab and Delectus Muttis Pride 2006.. showing rutherford dirt.. tannic and could age a few more years and gain

Clos Apalta Chile 2008.. fruit, cedar and cassis... and lots of fruit

Neyen Espirito 2006,, buts up to Apalta and shows much more earth and terror..

Skeleton Malbec Argentina Patagonia 2010.. slight waxy nose, defintely fruity but showing more alcohol.

Two Hands Angel Share Shiraz 2009.. dark fruit nose, lots of fruit on the front but the finish was a little linear.. tight.

Two Hands Bella Gardens 2010 From bottle  fruit and spice.. tighter nose
Two Hands Bella Gardens 2010 decanted.. a savory nose of worsteshire and steak sauce.. lots of fruit on the finish.. with some interesting mocha and spice flavors on the end.

Colome Reserve 2007. a property of the Hess family. showed some alcohol on the nose and then fruit.. very dense on the palate.. a blend of malbec and cab
